New England Institute of Addiction Studies & Adcare Educational Institute

AdCare Educational Institute and The New England Institute of Addiction Studies jointly host a Virtual Community. Both organizations are dedicated to providing services to those working in the field of substance abuse and other allied professionals as well as to those affected by substance abuse. Service areas include Prevention, Intervention, Treatment, and Recovery. 

Staff listed below have knowledge and expertise in examining issues surrounding underage alcohol use, policy development, program planning, and providing education and technical assistance to organizations and individuals on substance abuse related public health issues.

Youth Empowerment and Policy Project (YEPP)
Is an active and diverse group of youth from around the State of Maine focusing on program and policy issues regarding underage drinking. The group has developed several findings and recommendations documents and projects suitable for any youth group or coalition interested in a pro-active role in combating underage drinking in their community.

CARD ME
This program will provide liquor licensees with a "tool kit" to increase the business' ability to prevent illegal sales to minors and/or visibly intoxicated patrons. The tool kit will include a manual for managers, posters and tip sheets for employees, and a card to provide to patrons to explain why they are being carded (state law requires it for those who appear to be under 27 years of age). A community involvement component includes "Thank You for Carding" recognition cards individuals may present to licensees they observe being responsible vendors.

Maine Alcohol Impact Coalition
MAIC is a growing statewide coalition of organizations, programs, agencies, and individuals concerned that the funding for Maine's substance abuse prevention, treatment and enforcement programs is too low and too volatile.

Maine Inhalant Abuse Prevention Task Force

Aroostook Teen Leadership Camp

Aroostook Teen Leadership Camp is an annual five-day camp held at the Maine School of Science and Mathematics in Limestone, Maine during the first week of August. The main focus of this camp is to deter students from using drugs and alcohol in the future by using a different approach: positive reinforcement. ATLC is designed to provide students, entering grades 8 or 9 in Aroostook County, with the opportunity to develop skills and attitudes that will prevent adolescent involvement with alcohol, tobacco and other drugs.

Sticker Shock Campaign
